Somatic therapy is a gentle, body-based approach to healing that includes your whole self—your body, mind, and spirit.
Rather than only talking about your experiences, we also pay attention to what’s happening in your body—because your body holds important information about what you’ve been through and what you need.
This work is grounded in an understanding of the nervous system—how your body responds to stress, overwhelm, connection, and safety.
Together, we move at a pace that feels right for you.
Instead of pushing or digging into painful experiences too quickly, we focus on helping your system feel more steady, supported, and resourced.
As your capacity grows, your body naturally begins to process what has been held—gently and over time.
In our sessions, we explore your inner experience in a simple, grounded way.
You might begin to notice:
-
sensations in your body
-
subtle shifts in emotion or energy
-
patterns in how you respond to stress or relationships
This helps build a bridge between your awareness and your body, so you’re not just thinking about your experience—you’re actually feeling and understanding it from within.
This work also supports healing in relationship.
Many of our wounds happen in connection with others—and they can also begin to heal there. Through a safe, compassionate therapeutic relationship, we create space for all parts of you to be seen, felt, and welcomed.
Over time, you’re likely to:
-
notice your internal cues and signals more clearly
-
understand your nervous system responses (like fight, flight, or freeze)
-
feel your boundaries more clearly
-
move out of stuck patterns
We don’t force healing— we support it.
Rather than confronting trauma head-on, we build a sense of safety and stability—both within you and in the space between us.
From there, your system can begin to process what it’s ready to, in its own timing.
The intention of this work is simple:
To help you feel more at home in yourself.
More grounded.
More connected.
More able to move through life with clarity, resilience, and empowerment.

how I approach this work...
I approach Relational Somatic Counselling with sensitivity and a caring heart that is tuned into the subtleties and nuances of human experience.
I co-create a space where all parts of you are welcome, and where you can open up your most authentic, multi-layered self when ready.
My intention is to foster relational safety and support you in navigating, digesting and grieving life experiences, emotional and relational wounds, and trauma so that you can redeem and embody your inherent wholeness.
I listen intently and offer this space with reverence for you and all that you are, as well as for the human journey, and move from an awareness of the true honour that it is to hold space for another.
I also know that ultimately we are our own healers, and that the wholeness of your being holds all of the answers you're seeking. It's a delight to support you in bringing that through. The container simply helps to draw that knowing forward and clarify over time.
In relation to this, I also work with an acknowledgement of the inherent health that exists beneath all trauma, problems and imbalances.
Each session and each counsellor-client relationship is one of a kind and I shift subtle elements of how I work to best suit each unique client, while drawing upon tools from the Therapeutic Counselling and Relational Somatic Therapy fields.
more about somatic therapy...
Relational Somatic Therapy is a holistic and embodied approach to therapy and healing that invites you back into the rhythms of your body and the natural wisdom of your whole self.
Rooted in presence, this therapeutic approach welcomes every part of you—body, mind, spirit, heart, emotions, energy, history—with curiosity, care, and compassion.
Together, we slow things down. The body moves at a pace all its own—seven times slower than the mind—and in that spaciousness, we begin to notice what’s happening just beneath the surface.
Within the safety of a grounded therapeutic relationship, together we listen closely to the subtle signals rising from your system, helping you begin to digest old patterns and experiences that may have felt overwhelming or frozen in time.
Somatic work is also known as an assisted awareness practice—a co-creative process where you are supported in navigating what your body is expressing. As we listen and tend to those signals from the body, you'll learn to describe what’s felt, sensed, and moved through you—sometimes alongside emotional release or verbal reflection.
Over time, this deep attending weaves connection between body and mind, helping you integrate your life experiences, thoughts, emotions, instincts, and knowing. It brings spaciousness into places that once felt tight or tangled. As you meet yourself with kindness and receive support, relational healing unfolds, and you gain more resilience, flexibility, and rootedness in who you are.
In-person sessions can include optional hands-on support—gentle, therapeutic touch to help regulate the nervous system, or therapeutic exercises which help complete survival responses that didn’t have space to resolve before.
At its core, this work is an invitation to come home to your body, your breath, your being—to reclaim your connection with the wholeness that’s been there all along.
